Mis Escritos Y Pensamientos

When once the itch of literature comes over a man, nothing can cure it but the scratching of a pen. -Samuel Lover

The Madness Begins

Posted by Christa Joy |

March Madness, oh I love thee.  You're a fickle lover, however.  One moment I'm on cloud nine, and then, and then...I'm heartbroken.  Still, no matter how often I become angry or frustrated, I keep coming back to you.  When will the turmoil end?  Well, usually it subsides sometime around May, after I've had time to come down from a joyous championship, or rebound from another loss.  Then December comes and that's when I begin to feel the promise that you're coming back.  Around and around you go, but no matter how much I want to protect myself from the madness, I can't help it. So, here we go again.

Go Wildcats!

The Academy Awards

Posted by Christa Joy |

For the first time in my life, last night, I watched the Oscars.  It was...well, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.  Most of the nominations were at least actors or movies that I was familiar with, and of course, who doesn't love Steve Martin.

An appearance by Macaulay Culkin, honoring John Hughs, was a great time of remembering those great movies of my childhood...Home Alone, Uncle Buck, Richie Rich, and My Girl.

I was ecstatic to see Sandra Bullock win Best Actress (I've been on a BIG Sandra Bullock kick.)  UP also won a few awards, which I was happy about.

On a down note, oh...NPH...I know that you can sing.  I've seen Dr. Horrible, but what you did last night was just atrocious.

The Hurt Locker...well, they just cleaned up.  I've never heard of anyone even watching that movie.  Why is this?  Have you seen it?

Overall, it was a good show.  I laughed a lot, cried a little (with the clips from Blindside), and all in all had a rather enjoyable evening.

Chattanooga Choo Choo

I live a stone's throw away from train tracks. Ok, a stone's throw if you can throw really far. They aren't just normal train tracks either, it's a place where the trains start and stop. So, besides the regular train whistles, and sounds of the trains chuggin' along, we also get to experience the explosive sounding noises that often penetrate our walls and shake our windows.

You know on Mary Poppins where everyday the neighbor shoots his cannon off of his roof?  Then everyone in the houses has to hold onto breakables, lest the fall from their spots and break....that's what it reminds me of.

Every place we live has it's own uniqueness doesn't it?  This part of my life will make for some great additives to a novel one day.

Here We Go Again

Posted by Christa Joy |

With such a new look, I must work at writing more often.  Writing for my other blog regularly is hard enough.  Still, I am a writer, and so many thoughts and situations flow through me life every day.  Why not share them?  If anything, people can spend a moment in my life to escape the excitement of their own for just a few minutes.

I think I write in spurts for a few reasons.  One, is that after the push for 50,000 words in November, I get rather burnt out.  Speaking of Novel #2, sadly, it is still not finished and I don't suspect that it will be anytime soon.  See, the last 1,000 words or so that I wrote are on my other computer.  Yes, Roonwit (named after a centaur from Narnia) is out of commission.  My husband is the computer guru, but with his going to school full-time, and now his working part-time, I hate to ask him for the precious time it would take to revive him (the computer I mean.)  I just can't bring myself to work on the novel without the last 1,000 words.  In truth, I don't even remember what happened in the last 1,000 words.  So, until my novel is rescued from the belly of the sleeping monster, it shall remain as it is, incomplete.  Perhaps you could pray for a miracle.

Almost....

I'm not sure how I feel about the ending of stories.  I had promised that my story would go far beyond 50,000 words, but I might be wrong.  I'm not sure if I'm rushing things or what, but the plot is winding down awfully quickly.  We'll see what happens.

Day 27

Posted by Christa Joy |

Hurray for Thanksgiving, family, food, and writing!  No writing was done Thursday, but a lot of family time was had. Today (the 27th) was my brother's birthday.  That means that there are three days left of NANOWRIMO.  Can you believe it?  I can't.  Now more story is picking up more than ever.  There's no way in the world I can finish in only 50,000 words, so when I hit that mark, I'll still be writing.  The last day of NANO I will be spending 7-8 hours on the road, which means that I will have plenty of time to type, or that I need to have it done and turned in before then, since internet won't be as readily available.

Today's Word Goal: 45,000

Today's Word count: 47,036

Yep, I'm still a day ahead, and I only have 3,000 words to go!  Will I finish before Monday?
